The HP Parallel Storage solution was specifically designed to meet the demanding I/O requirements of high-performance computers and HPC clusters in a highly efficient manner. The E1000 parallel storage solution typically achieves specified HPC storage performance requirements with significantly fewer storage drives than alternative storage offerings.
This means that HPC users with a fixed HPC system budget can spend more of their budget on CPU/GPU compute nodes, reducing the time to understand. The licensed HP Parallel Storage solution incorporates the open-source Lustre® parallel file system to deliver this efficient performance.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise provides enterprise-class internal customer support with (nearly) linear scaling, with no file system software licenses per terabyte of capacity or per storage unit.This allows customers to take advantage of the open-source community while still receiving enterprise-class support from Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
Next-generation ClusterStor storage system, ClusterStor E1000, is based on fourth-generation NVMe hardware building blocks that incorporate the latest storage technologies to provide enhanced flexibility and resiliency. It is a storage and I/O subsystem consisting of a POSIX global file system with a namespace configured to allow access between computer clients and ClusterStor E1000 storage nodes using the parallel Luster file system. ClusterStor E1000 offers three basic configurations:
- All HDD
- All Flash
- Tiered with both HDD and flash
The all-flash configuration is suitable for many small random read I/Os and high sequential throughput required in many AI applications, including machine learning and deep learning. The base frame offers up to 1440 GB/s reading and up to 900 GB/s writing with Multi-Rail LNet. The expansion rack offers up to 1600 GB/s reading and up to 1000 GB/s writing Multi-Rail LNet.
The all-hard drive configuration is mainly used for large sequential I/O and modeling and simulation. The base frame offers up to 90 GB/s reading and writing up to about 7.5 PB usable capacity, depending on disk capacity used. The expansion rack offers up to 120 GB/s read and write up to 10 PB of usable capacity, depending on the capacity of the hard drive used.

- Over 10 Petabytes of usable storage capacity in a single rack (using 16TB HDDs)
- Connects to any Cray Slingshot, HDR/EDR InfiniBand or 200/100 Gigabit Ethernet compatible supercomputer or HPC cluster.
- Enterprise-class internal support for performance-accelerating Luster features such as Data in Metadata Targets (DoM), Progressive File Layout (PFL), Multirail LNet, Distributed Namespace, and many other advanced Luster features.

The HP Parallel Storage system offers a highly efficient way to provide 80/50 GB/s with only 24 SSDs for your compute nodes. Up to 30/30 aggregate file system performance reading/writing 212 7200RPM SAS hard drives in a 10RU form factor with the SSU-D2 scalable storage unit, an ultra-dense and cost-effective form factor to deliver 30GB/second of only 212 HDDs to its computing nodes.
Up to 24/24 read/write aggregate file system performance of 186 7200RPM SAS hard drives in a 12 rack form factor with the SSU-M2 scalable storage unit, the easy-to-use way for the data center, 24GB/sec from only 186 HDDs to its computing nodes.
Because of the open source parallel file system, there are no file system license fees per terabyte of capacity or per storage unit. This allows you to eliminate software audit risk and meet the ever-increasing capacity requirements without increasing software license costs.

Choose between Read Intensive (RI) or Mixed Use (MU) SSDs in the E1000 SSU-F and/or Metadata Unit (MDU). Choose whether the system should be shipped from the factory in Cray ClusterStor racks or installed in your data center racks, as long as they meet the technical specifications.
