Primary Storage Leaders
Since data is the main pillar of the information technology industry, the most important task of data center managers of any organization is to preserve, maintain and manage information that is constantly increasing in its amount and variety. One of the main challenges of data storage and communication network management is to maintain data security, the efficiency and capacity of the data storage system, how to prepare a backup and appropriate management tools.
The traditional methods of keeping data separately in various servers are not the answer to the growing trend of the organization’s data. In the modern architecture of data centers, for ease of management and maintaining security, data is stored in specialized storage equipment with the appropriate infrastructure design. They also provide the possibility of automatic backup in another physical location. To do this, one of the following three technologies can be helpful:
Network storage with cloud processing method
Cloud storage is now used as the latest trend in storage practices and trends. Like the use of external hard drives in the 1990s and 2000s, they have been accepted as a universal standard and provide many structures and convenience to users. In short, you put the data on a cluster of remote servers (here, cloud servers) via the Internet. With this, you have relatively unlimited space for network storage.
NAS network storage
If you are still interested in using external hard drives and you don’t want to give up soon, allow us to introduce NAS or network attached storage. In this network storage service, you can access several external hard drives on the network and connect to it whenever you want.
In very simple terms, NAS network storage is similar to connecting an external hard drive to your computer, but with the difference that this system is much larger and faster. The connection with the NAS is done by the USB port, and it is easy to connect the computer to a storage network under the internal network. Ethernet is one of the common methods used in this way. But nowadays it is also common to use Wi-Fi waves.
SAN style network storage
What if the NAS storage system alone cannot provide you with the necessary space for storage? One option is to put together an army of NAS devices. This work is not logically justified. On the other hand, you have to deal with different types of IP addresses and other issues of separation and space management.
A better option is to use a SAN or Storage area network system. Like the storage method under the NAS network, in the SAN method, the data is placed on the internal servers of your organization and transferred to you with internal network connections.
But unlike the NAS system, in the storage method under the SAN network, there is an internal connection between the storage spaces. In fact, all storage spaces under your network are connected to each other in this way and form a single space.
In this way, we return to the same starting point of the discussion. If you are looking to get rid of network storage systems, the only alternative for you is to use a DAS or Direct Attached Storage system. As the name suggests, a DAS storage system must be physically attached to the device it is intended to store.
You can use DAS anywhere. Hard drives, CD and DVD drives, flash drives and external drives are all examples of DAS. In fact, the term DAS system was designed after the developments in NAS and SAN network storage systems. Despite the DAS system, there are many differences between network storage methods and the opposite.
Pioneer Companies in this field
There are many companies that are working in this field, researching and developing as well as supplying products to the market. Among them, there are companies that have been rated by the Gartner Research Institute and have received the highest ratings. Among the companies that have been ranked among the leaders in this field by the Gartner Institute, the following companies can be mentioned:
- Dell Technologies
- Net App
HP Primary Storage
The licensed HP storage devices are very powerful storage devices among other storage devices in the world. HP storage activities in economic fields (stock market, banks…) are sharing files for online sites (YouTube, 4Shared…), storing information in small and large collections, having backup of information, etc.
HP storage devices have a high speed that increases your speed in accessing information.
Other features of HP storage devices include easy access management and high security. HP storage products include online storage, network storage, and storage software. Every day, HP makes every effort to increase the speed and security of its storage devices according to the needs of its customers.
For nine years in a row, Pure Storage licensed storages has been recognized as a leader in the A Magic Quadrant. For the third consecutive year, they are at the top of the list for Ability to Execute and farthest from the center for Completeness of Vision in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage, which will be released in 2022.
